This course will be IN-PERSON. There will be both a classroom and hands-on field components. You will be required to bring your own bee suit, veil, and steel toe boots.

Do you want to be a better beekeeper? Then this intermediate beekeeping course is for you! The Alberta Tech Transfer Program Lead, Dr. Renata Labuschagne, will teach about the main honey bee pests and diseases found in Alberta. Participating beekeepers will learn how to recognize a healthy and unhealthy colony, identify different honey bee pests and diseases, and collect samples for laboratory analysis. We will also explain how to continuously monitor your colonies for pests and diseases, and the treatment options available.

Each participant will receive a copy of the Honey Bee Diseases & Pests from the Canadian Association of Professional Apiculturists (CAPA) and a Hive-side Guide for the Identification of Honey Bee Pests and Diseases.
